Man! Do I love "local kid done good" stories! Don't you? I mean, Corey Chisel is out doing his thing - Greta Van Susteren is still a burden ... of truth - and Willem Dafoe is ... well ... chasing men dress in red tights (that's a Spiderman reference, people!). But, I'm gonna toss in one more name of Appletonites done good - Mark Dougherty - the owner of Mark's Eastside in Appleton. Ya see, Mark grew up in the family restaurant business - and as soon as the spatulas hit the grill at age 15, Mark set a goal to own one of the best dang restaurants in Wisconsin! Mission accomplished, Mark. Good family man - gives back to the community - active in the state restaurant association - runs a successful business ... sorry, ladies ... he's married!
Once you hit Mark's Web site, you notice something ... "Hey Groucher, there's a ton of Shamrocks on here ... if it's St. Patty's Day, why am I still sober?" Don't worry, your liver can rest easy for a few more months. Mark's Eastside specializes in number of great menu options, but also has German cuisine that will leave you saying "Wow! Das ist eine große deutsche essen!" Trust me ... it's a good thing.
This Groucher is for lunch at Mark's Eastside - which runs from 11 to 4pm. But, I need to mention that the salad bar only runs until 2pm - so, if you're a rabbit we recommend you arrive before 2pm.
